VERMONTVILLE - Laingsburg's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs Tuesday, when the Wolfpack were ousted in four games by Vermontville Maple Valley by scores of 18-25, 22-25, 25-20, 22-25. The Wolfpack end the season with an overall record of 16-16-2.
“We were not ready for this season to end,” Laingsburg coach Tennille Whitmore said. “We got off to a slow start and didn't quite get going soon enough. We fought back to win game three, but we fell apart late in game four, and that allowed Maple Valley to regain control of the game.
“Despite the loss, they stayed in the game right down to the last ball.”
Shelby Hurst led the Wolfpack with 25 assists, four kills, five blocks and was 8-for-8 in serving. Karli Spohn was 11-for-11 serving, had 13 kills, and led the defense with nine blocks and 12 digs. Morgan Cannon added 12 kills and Aleah Mitchell finished with 12 digs.
