Billy Joe Thomlison

Age 54, of Swartz Creek, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Avalon Hospice in Flint.

Funeral services will be held at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel, Thursday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Douglas Levesque presiding. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m.

Mr. Thomlison was born Jan. 9, 1954, in Flint, the son of Carl and Euna (Willis) Thomlison. On Aug. 1, 1975, he married Sigrid Morschett in Schweinfurt, Germany, and together raised a son.

Mr. Thomlison retired from the United States Army as a First Sergeant after 21 faithful years of service. During that time, he served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He also taught at the Virginia Military Institute and Junior ROTC in Radcliff, Ky. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Thomlison spent the last several years in Network Consulting. He had a passion for both computers and motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years Sigrid; son James Thomlison of Columbia City, Ind.; brother Gerald (Juva) Thomlison of Ovid/Elsie; sister Sherry (Roger) Pugh of Bancroft; four nieces, Molly Grimmett, Tracy Wilson, Rachel Baker, Rebekah Talbert; two nephews, Conan and Ian Thomlison; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: both parents; son David; and brother James.
