Raymond Anthony Strauss

Age 94, of Versailles, Ohio, formerly of Owosso/Morrice, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, in Versailles.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at Morrice United Methodist Church, 210 N. Main St., Morrice, with the Rev. Jeremy Benton officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mowen Funeral Home - William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel.

Raymond was born in Nottawa Township, Feb. 11, 1915, the son of Ferdinand and Margaret (Weiber) Strauss. He served in the Army Air Corps from Aug. 1942 to Feb. 1946. He married Opal Wright on Oct. 26, 1945; she preceded him in death on April 25, 1992. He then married Mary Evelyn Pleiman on Sept. 4, 1993. Raymond was employed by VanCise Quality Motors in Owosso, retiring in 1980. He enjoyed spending time with family and was an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife Mary Evelyn; daughter Jan (Vern) Lindsay; sons Don and Jim (Kathy); stepdaughters, Yvonne (Tom) Hart and Carolyn (Orville) Stachler; grandchildren Mark (Holly) Lindsay, Beth (Ben) Bedford and Ben Strauss; stepgrandchildren Denise, Eric, Krista, Michael, Michelle, Robert and Yvette; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by brother Harold; and sister Vera.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morrice United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
