Age 90, of Corunna, mother of Mary Lou Nemets, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at the Shiawassee County Medical Care Facility.
Anita retired from the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, N.M., after 37 years, working in housekeeping.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at St. Paul Catholic Church, with Fr. John Fain officiating.
Anita was born on April 13, 1919, in San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, the daughter of Fabian and Mary (Archuleta) Cata. She attended Santa Fe Indian School. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She had a great love of people and never met a person she didn't like. She was a very genuine and caring individual.
Survivors include her daughter Mary Lou Nemets of Corunna; grandchildren Alan J. Gamelin of Corunna and Lori (Gamelin) and Todd Polensky of Shelby Township; great-grandchildren Natasha Farrell and Cody Polensky; great-great-grandchildren Kendall Farrell, Payton Farrell and Logan Skover, all of Shelby Township; brother Simon Cata; sister-in-law Nettie T. Cata; and several nieces and nephews all of the Reservation in San Juan Pueblo, N.M.; and many other loving friends here in Michigan.
She was predeceased by her parents Fabian and Mary Cata; son Clarence F. Cata; brother Jose R. Cata; and sister-in-law Eva M. Cata.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family, to spread around generously in memory of Anita's beautiful spirit.
