Cavs run fourth at regionals

BAY CITY - Matthew McNeill of Corunna ran to a state-qualifying time of 17 minutes, 13.8 seconds while running fifth in Saturday's Division 2 cross country regional at Delta College.

The Cavalier boys ran fourth in the team standings with 115 points.

John Sarrazin of Corunna ran 20th in 17:55.9. Teammates Brandon Francis (22nd, 18:07.5), Cale Linabury (34th, 18:26.1), Nick Wracan (36th, 18:29.4), Beau Bremer (40th, 18:41.8) and Josh LaMay (45, 18:55.8) rounded out the team's performance.

The Cavalier girls - led by state qualifier Marissa Schneider - were ninth with 196 points.

Schneider ran fourth overall in 20:03.3. Corunna's other scorers included Elizabeth Watling (36th, 22:27.8), Mandy Nickels (44th, 23:03.7), Hannah turner (57th, 24:33.6) and Haley Sawyer (61st, 25:08.3). Sharlin May ran 68th in 26:07.5.
