CORUNNA - An Okemos woman pleaded guilty to seven counts of felony home invasion charges Monday in Shiawassee County Circuit Court.
Jynell Veverka-Dyer, 21, described to Judge Gerald Lostracco how she aided co-defendant Adam Kaser as the two went through Clinton, Ingham, Livingston and Shiawassee counties breaking into homes.
“I drove Adam to the residences,” Veverka-Dyer said. “I did not enter any of the homes. I stayed in the car.”
The two would steal money, jewelry and other items they could sell at pawn shops.
Veverka-Dyer and the 28-year-old Kaser were set for trial next week.
Sentencing for Veverka-Dyer is July 18.
The duo targeted certain homes, she said.
“He would choose homes that were isolated from the others,” Veverka-Dyer said. “He would use a crow bar to pry open a side door.”
Court records show from March to September 2007, the two broke into six homes on Colby Lake, Winegar, Bath, Shaftsburg and Leyland roads. The seventh charge was conspiracy to commit home invasion.
Veverka-Dyer is in prison in Ypsilanti serving a maximum of 15 years. She pleaded guilty in March to eight separate counts of second-degree home invasion in Clinton and Livingston counties.
Shiawassee County Assistant Prosecutor Sara Edwards said she expects Kaser to accept a similar plea bargain.
Kaser is in prison in Ionia serving a maximum of 40 years after pleading guilty to eight separate counts of second-degree home invasion in Clinton and Livingston counties.
