Glardon named Realtor of the Year

OWOSSO - “Ben Glardon steps up to the plate every time he's needed. Not only is he willing to go above and beyond for us,” said RE/MAX of Owosso representative Laura Armstrong, “he does the same for the (Shiawassee Regional Association of Realtors).”
Glardon, realtor with RE/MAX, was named Realtor of the Year by the Shiawassee Regional Association of Realtors for the second time Thursday. He also was honored in 1995.
“When I first got into the (real estate) business, I was told Ben Glardon was an honest and honorable man, someone exceptionally true to his word,” said Lance Omer, broker/owner of RE/MAX-Owosso. “And it's true - He's the epitome of integrity.
“Ben's a person you can count on,” Omer added. “He and his family have had a great, great impact on this community. His leadership at the (SRAR) board level, during some difficult times, has been outstanding.”
Currently serving as the SRAR president, Glardon, with RE/MAX of Owosso since 1983 and also president of Glardon Auction Service, was surprised by 2007 Realtor of the Year Frank Santrucek's announcement of 2008 Realtor honors. He received a standing ovation from SRAR members.
“The award for 2008 Realtor of the Year goes to a person who has far exceeded his responsibilities as a realtor and as a citizen,” Santrucek related.
“This year's accomplished leader is well respected by realtors and non-realtors. His dedication and genuine interest in his community, co-workers and the real estate industry is evident in everything he does ... always giving 100 percent of himself.
“He has the qualities we all strive for - honesty, reliability, truthfulness, fairness and professionalism.
“This person often volunteers his services to benefit a variety of civic organizations and clubs.
He is an involved member in numerous charities such as United Way, cystic fibrosis, Respite, the Child advocacy Center, school sports booster clubs and FFA programs, the Chamber of Commerce, Owosso Kiwanis Club, Shiawassee County Fair, 4-H programs, Memorial Healthcare Foundation and many, many more charities.
“Our Realtor of the Year is always ready to serve this board as attested by the many positions - some several times - he has held in this organization. To name a few ... he has been RPAC chairperson, a first-, second- and third-year director, vice president and president of the Shiawassee Board of Realtors.
“He works tirelessly to involve all offices in our board, helping to make better relationships between offices so that in working together we can make our board thrive in tough years as well as the easier years.
“And so, for his unprecedented service and dedication to our board, its membership and the community, our 2008 Realtor of the Year is Ben Glardon.”
Glardon, married to Miriam and the proud father of Madison, is a life-long resident of Shiawassee County. He is a member of several realty and auctioneer organizations, including the RE/MAX Hall of Fame for total sales volume.
And now he is a two-time Realtor of the Year award winner.
