Argus-Press Photo by Liz Shepard A house at 5477 Colby Road in Shiawassee Township was destroyed by fire Thursday night. At about 8:45 p.m. the flames started, said homeowner Josh Crambell. He believes it was caused by electrical problems. “I just got an armful of clothes,” he said, “and lost the pictures and memories...the things I can’t replace.” Shiawassee Township Fire Chief Dennis Warner said he could see the flames shooting from the house as they came on scene off Grand River Road. Fire departments from Corunna-Caledonia Township, Owosso, Perry and Vernon also responded. Warner said central dispatch and the county’s Road Commission played a vital role with the rural fire. “If it wasn’t for those guys we’d be in trouble,” he said.

" As a former member of Owosso Township Fire Departmetn, I sympathize with your loss. We all need to recognize the efforts made by the Township Fire Department too. I am sure it was an oversight and I am very sorry for your loss and very sorry for the injuries to the Owosso Township fireman, regardless of department affiliation, those men put their lives on the line on each and every call. I am also thankful that you or your family did not suffer any injuries either. Fire is a terrible experience for anyone and thank God we have such dedicated people on our local fire departments. "
